CBC Radio Podcasting
OK things are getting better. I love listening to radio, particularly good content “talk” radio, and in Montreal I’ve got the choice of CBC Radio One, Radio Canada, CKUT, and NPR/Vermont Public Radio, and that does it for sources of decent talk radio.
The problem is that the times I most like to listen (lunch, saturday mornings, sunday mornings, and evening … basically my cooking and eating times), are slotted with the supposedly “popular” shows - inane call-in shows (eg, Radio Noon: “Today on Radio Noon! Seatbelts! Call us and tell us what you think!”) … I could go on about the sad decline of CBC English radio, it’s attempts to get a “younger” or “stupider” audience, but that’s not the point. The point is to congradulate the CBC on their Podcast experiment!
As of now, the venerable science show Quirks & Quarks, and Tod Maffin’s Tech Column are available as podcasts. Now if we could just get some of the other programming online, like wiretap, and ideas, I would be a happy man. Keep up the good work CBC.
And if everyone could send CBC an email to tell them podcasts are the wave of the future, that would be great.

I was listening to Jowy Taylor’s (if that is his real name) show on electricity’s effect on music–I think it was called Wired ?–it had some great segments on early experimental electronica but started to piss me off by sampling itself so much
